My Story…
My name is Brendan.
I've been a student at the John Volken Academy since June 9th, 2017. I'm a recovering addict/alcoholic.
During my time here, I've worked through traumas I have experienced that have haunted me & done tremendous work to better myself in my mental, emotional & physical health.
A major part of my healing process I have gone through here, has been running. I truly love it and feel so free. It's become something I sought initially to improve my health, into that and much more.
It has become a source of confidence, it's become my favorite hobby to indulge with others & develop connection, but primarily it's become my active meditation.
In early recovery, spirituality is so important & running being my form of meditation, I rely on it for my time to connect with my spirituality.
I am grateful for how far I've come with it -- not being able to run 1km summer of 2018 -- & am excited to complete my first half marathon this June & further on!
Thank you for your support!!
