My Story…
Dear friends,
As you may know- I am the Drop-In Coordinator at the WISH Drop-In Centre Society, and this year I am running the ScotiaBank Half Marathon on June 23rd to help raise money for our AMAZING organization! I have been with WISH for going on 2 years and it is a truly special organization providing life sustaining and essential services in Vancouver.
For 35 years, WISH has been improving the health, safety and well-being of women in Vancouver's street-based sex trade.
We offer basic life saving services, as well as opportunities for women to build capacity, increase life skills, and improve their lives. More importantly, WISH offers a safe haven guided by acceptance, caring, dignity, and respect for our sisters who need it the most. Our participants come from every background to call WISH their 'home', meaning that WISH is a truly essential service for hundred's of Vancouver's most marginalized and at-risk women.

Description
WISH Drop-In Centre Society puts its mission, values, and core principles into action by providing services, supports and opportunities to women engaged in Vancouver’s street based sex industry. WISH offers a safe haven for sex-working women: a place to take a break, connect with colleagues and friends, get a bite to eat or access other, more specific kinds of support – in a safe, respectful, accepting environment. As a deeply respected member of the DTES community, WISH offers programs to serve immediate needs, while engaging in the ongoing advocacy required to shift societal prejudices that continue to put women at risk.
