My Story…
WISH Drop-In Centre Society is an incredible organization that helps sex-working women in so many ways - providing meals, a place to rest, employment opportunities, community support and so much more. I have been involved with WISH as a Board member and volunteer for almost a year now. It has been truly a rewarding and eye opening experience and an opportunity to work closely with many hardworking and compassionate women - staff, volunteers and donors alike!
Description
WISH Drop-In Centre Society puts its mission, values, and core principles into action by providing services, supports and opportunities to women engaged in Vancouver’s street based sex industry. WISH offers a safe haven for sex-working women: a place to take a break, connect with colleagues and friends, get a bite to eat or access other, more specific kinds of support – in a safe, respectful, accepting environment. As a deeply respected member of the DTES community, WISH offers programs to serve immediate needs, while engaging in the ongoing advocacy required to shift societal prejudices that continue to put women at risk.
