My Story…
Hi friends! I am running the 5km to raise money for the West End-Coal Harbour Community Policing Centre.
I have been volunteering with the CPC for almost two years and I have never met a more dedicated group of individuals working to make the community better.
We need your donations because virtually half the annual budget goes towards paying the pricey, premium rent on the Davie Street office space. We would not be able to operate at all without fundraising and donations.
I have been so lucky to see first-hand the impact the Community Policing Centre makes in peoples' lives. From returning lost items to being an understanding ear for people in distress, we definitely make a difference.
Description
Community Policing comes from a different mindset than conventional policing. It is rooted in a desire for localized crime prevention methods rather than in a dependence on traditional crime control methods. With the support of the Vancouver Police Department, we involve regular community members to help with solving real problems and to enrich the community. Be part of the solution! Show your support for us by donating or participating. Train with your fellow participants, receive a team shirt to wear on race day, and attend a thank you BBQ when you join the WECHCPC ‘Cops and Runners’ team!
