Help Madeline raise money

For participating in 2019 Canada Army Run/Course de l’Armée du Canada

My Story…

Each year our family participates in the Army Run, in memory of my father, Tony Lee. While he spent most of his career as a Canadian Military Engineer, Tony enlisted with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse as a Crewman in 1974. He transferred to the Topographic Surveyor trade two years later while stationed in Calgary and became a long-time member of Mapping and Charting Establishment in Ottawa. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1982 and qualified to Trade Level 6B in 1987 based on his field experiences. Among his accomplishments, in 1987 Tony and his small survey crew were responsible for surveying the most northern point in Canada at Cape Columbia on Ellesmere Island. In 1989 he transferred from Compilation Division to terrain analysis. His many trips to the field and work with terrain analysis qualified Tony as sort of a trouble-shooter in the survey end of the business. Tony retired from the Canadian Forces in 1995.

Description

STAND WITH US!

When a woman or man serves in the military, they make a sacrifice for our country. When a parent serves, it is the whole family that makes this sacrifice. A military family experiences frequent moves, lengthy absences and the risks of family members serving in physically and mentally demanding and dangerous situations. For these families, it can feel like they don’t have a consistent support system, their children struggle to connect to an ever changing peer group, and members may need assistance in their recovery and rehabilitation.

Support Our Troops, the official charitable cause of the Canadian Armed Forces, was established to meet the unique needs and challenges faced by members of the Canadian Armed Forces community as a result of their military service.

Support Our Troops funds two main programs: Family First and Soldier On.

Support Our Troops and Soldier On rely exclusively on the generosity of Canadians like you, corporate donations, signature and third party events, proceeds from sales, and CF Appreciation Nights.

Support Our Troops and Soldier On assisted over 2600 members and their families over the last year. Your help is needed as the demand in times of peace or conflict continues to grow.
