Raise money for Harris County Hospital District Foundation

Harris County Hospital District Foundation (HCHD Foundation) proudly announces its 17th Annual TexasMedRun on Saturday, February 2, 2019! The proceeds from this event will benefit Harris Health, Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital (LBJ) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Level III (NICU), High Risk Nursery Level II, Labor and Delivery, and Mother and Baby program. This essential program is in need of the latest state of the art equipment to continue to provide high quality, safe, and evidence based care to the infants and families of Northeast Houston.

On August 1, 2018, the NICU was designated by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) as a level III NICU;

As a level III designated facility, care is provided for mothers and comprehensive care of their infants of all gestational ages with mild to critical illness or requiring sustained life support; and

This designation is a significant achievement and the Baby-Friendly label brands the facility as top quality and not willing to take short cuts, and as committed to providing optimal infant feeding care to 100% of their patients 100% of the time.

To continue making a difference in the lives of the community for generations to come, the proceeds from the 17th Annual Texas MedRun will be used to purchase wall mounted screens for installation in the NICU. These screens will supplement on-going infection prevention initiatives and assist in providing patient privacy. Proceeds will also be used to purchase modern open cribs that will not only optimize patient safety through their built-in tilt control features, stability engineering, and height adjustment capabilities, but enhance the well-being of the mother and baby promoting parental involvement, skin to skin, and breastfeeding at the point of care. In addition, these new cribs will keep the baby close to the mother in the event of needed intervention. Studies report major benefits with constant skin to skin contact with mother and baby at all times.

Please join the HCHD Foundation in its fundraising efforts to assist LBJ in purchasing the latest state of the art equipment so the high quality care for mother and baby in trying times may continue to promote mother baby well-being.
