The Painted Turtle, a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, California, provides magic and joy for children with life-threatening illnesses in year-round summer camp programs and outpost sessions across California. I, myself, was a camper in the Liver Transplant session and cultivated the confidence and positivity that I carry to this day despite my conditions and limitations. You see, Painted Turtle is more than just a camp to me, it is a second home. At camp, children are empowered to learn about their own medical care and are given the confidence to become more independent. Because of the incredible support and lessons I have learned from being at the Painted Turtle, I have aimed most of my life to give back for all these precious memories. I am training currently (follow me on Strava!) and am aiming to run this 5K in under 25 minutes.
