We are the few in a whopping 39 million nationwide struggling with Chronic Migraine Disease. My first episode was at the age of 14 and I am now 43. For 29 years this disease has reared its ugly head more often than not. I have lost family time that I can never get back, missed out on outings and events, canceled more plans than I have made, I have lost a fantastic career and so much more. My youngest was diagnosed last year. This disease carries a number of stigmas, IT IS NOT JUST A HEADACHE, THERE ARE 40 KNOWN ASSOCIATED SYMPTOMS. All painful and incredibly debilitating. We need to stop the stigma not just for me but for my son, for family members and friends that suffer. We need better understanding, awareness and access to the proper medications and treatments.
