Help Carla raise money

For participating in 2019 Hamilton Marathon Road2Hope

My Story…

I am doing the 10 km walk/run in support of McMaster Children's Hospital Foundation on November 2. My son was hospitalized there in 2011 as a result of a brain infection caused by Powassan Virus. He was the first reported positive outcome of all patients who had Powassan Virus in Canada and the US (i.e., he did not die, nor did he have resulting brain damage). I credit McMaster Children's Hospital for his recovery, which the doctors termed "miraculous". This is my small way of giving back. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Description

Why do we need to raise funds?

Fundraising is an essential part of health care. Our objective is to transform health care by raising funds for:

Equipment and Patient Amenities

Research

Education

Renovations

Doesn’t the government provide the funding needed?

The government funds hospital salaries, operating costs and contributes to capital projects. Donors fund 100 per cent of the equipment used to diagnose, treat and care for patients – from replacing the most basic necessities to investing in sophisticated new technologies.

Why is my donation important?

Glance around any patient room or treatment area and you will see the impact of your donation. In addition to equipment, donors also support research programs, education for hospital staff and redevelopment.
