COMPETITIVE DIVISIONS AND AWARD STRUCTURE
Participants within these divisions are primarily focused on speed, each of whom are eligible for competitive awards within their specific group. Please note certain categories are triathlon-only categories. Competitive categories include:
Age Group - All individuals registered for the Sprint and Olympic distances are automatically placed in this category, unless choosing a different division during the registration process. Note: Super Sprint participants see your structure below. Age groups are subdivided by gender and five-year age increments (e.g. 20-24, 24-29, 30-34, through 80 – 84, etc.). It is important to note that Age Groups are assigned based on athlete age as of December 31 of race year (thus no changes during the calendar year). The Top Male and Female finisher in each age group are eligible for an award commemorating their finish and place.
Duathlon and Super Sprint distances - only the Top 3 overall male and female finishers are eligible for commemorative awards.
Clydesdale / Athena - Generally heavier participants may opt-into this division. These athletes are subdivided by gender, each of whom must meet these minimum weight requirements – Athena: 165 lbs and Clydesdale: 220 lbs. The Top Male and Female finishers in the Sprint and Olympic distance triathlons are eligible for an award commemorating their finish and place. This is a triathlon-only category.
Relay Teams - Participants have the option to enter varying distances as a relay team, consisting of 3 individuals. Teams may elect which person will complete each specific discipline. Team members share a single timing chip, which is passed from one team member to another in transition. While not all relay teams are competitive by nature, all teams are eligible for the top finishing awards. Only the top finishing relay team is eligible for an award commemorating their finish and place and each team member will receive an award.
The award ceremony will take place immediately after the event in the Celebration Area. Athlete or athlete's representative must be present to receive their commemorative award.
No awards will be mailed, delivered or droped-off.
Combination of trail and park property - this out-n-back run course takes you through the woods at Alum Creek State Park, paved levee road, across the Alum Creek Dam and along side of the reservoir. The fantastic run course will provide a great view across the lake and on your return you will be able to see the Finish and celebration area from across the lake providing that extra incentive and motivation to finish strong.
IMPORTANT -You will be required to acknowledge the policy guidelines during registration.

Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event paying special attention to the possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds and extreme temperatures. If necessary, athletes will be made aware of these predictions on the Greenswell website and on our Facebook so that participants can properly prepare for severe weather during the race as well as possible course alterations. Severe weather updates will also be sent to participants via email as necessary.
The Event Director and Safety Director will monitor the weather and make a decision if any action will be taken to modify the race. Possible changes include: altering the start time for the race or in extreme situations, cancellation of the event. Please listen closely to all public address announcements at the starting line of the race.
Visible lightning will cause the race to be postponed for a minimum of 30 minutes. Additional sightings will continue to delay the race in 15 minute increments.
If heat is predicted, extra water and hydration stations will be provided to the athletes, both prior to, during and after the event. The medical team will be alerted that athletes may require additional medical attention during and after the event due to the high temperatures. If it is felt that it is unsafe for participants to start the race due to severe heat, the race may be suspended or cancelled.
Race personnel reserve the right to delay, cancel, or suspend the race due to inclement weather. Participants must abandon the race if ordered to do so by the race personnel, medical staff, fire or police officers.
