I suffered a SCAD heart attack 6 years ago at age 27 and almost lost my life. Luckily the doctors who were treating me afterwards had seen ONE other case of SCAD before and knew what to look for. I was diagnosed 5 days after the heart attack and was medically treated and sent home. I have had no further complications. I am so grateful for the knowledge of that one doctor. We need to continue raising awareness and fund research so that no one else has to go 5 days not knowing why they had a heart attack when they were otherwise healthy!
Last year I was part of the committee that planned our 1st SCADADDLE event and am so proud of the success we had. This year, as communications chair of the committee, I am hoping to spread even more awareness.
