“I have had the pleasure of running with Coach Dan for almost a year, and what an incredible year it has been! I never ran as a kid, I was never fit as an adult, but I tried running 5 years ago after the birth of my daughter as an easy way to get fit, and lose weight. I struggled for 4 years to be consistent in my running, so I finally decided to register for a marathon, my first. I knew I would need structure to my training, so I decided to join a running group, and I was incredibly lucky to have Coach Dan lead my pace group.
As a leader, Coach Dan turned our pace group into more of a team, which gave me accountability, consistency and most importantly, added joy to my training. Dan is a true coach, always encouraging, supportive and patient. He made us all better runners, and he made us all friends. It was a wonderful experience.
I successfully crossed the finish line at Charlotte’s Marathon in 2017, proud and thankful for the journey that got me there. All the constant positive feedback, tips, advice and training I received from Coach Dan, and all the friendships I formed made training and finishing my first marathon a life changing experience for me. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to continue to train with Coach Dan, and constantly make new friends at Carolina Club Run!”

"When I first moved to Charlotte I started running for the sole purpose of losing weight. However, I was getting lazy with it. I needed a challenge, so I told myself “let’s go for a ½ marathon – what can possibly go wrong?” Well for starters, everything – I didn’t have anyone to train with, I was training myself and I was getting lost! So I took the plunge and joined a running group. This is where I met Coach Dan. I have never been so at “AWE” until I got full on training by a true running Coach! His unique drills, special techniques - for ex. The tea cup- (Yes, the tea cup) and positive feedback provided me with a better understanding and appreciation for the sport. Because of him he turned our group into true runners. Running with a group gave me the accountability and consistently I needed but most importantly, I met a wonderful group of people that became my friends! I had finally found the joy in running!
It was because of him and his full on support that got me to the finish line at my very 1st half marathon race last November! Now, here we are almost a year later and I still have the honor to continue my training with Coach Dan and with a new season at Carolina Club Run I continue to make new friends."

“I’d been running for a few years and completed several half marathons when Coach Dan joined the training group. Our pace group was extremely lucky to have gotten him as our coach; he was able to get all of us to improve as runners with his unique leadership style and constant encouragement. Best of all, he made it fun. I had no plans whatsoever to run a full marathon last season and didn’t think I’d have the physical and mental reserves to ever complete one. But he pushed me toward that goal and I finished strong! I now proudly sport a 26.2 sticker on the back of my car and couldn’t have done it without Coach Dan’s help. I look forward to continuing to train (and improve!) under his instruction with Carolina Club Run.”
