One Warm Coat 4 Mile & 2 Mile Run/Walk
Thank you for your past donation of coats, hats, gloves, and blankets which were donated to various shelters in Central Ohio. We have talked to our shelter partners and this year, there are some special needs we would like to help them meet this season. We are asking for donations of:
- Flashlights and Candles
- Batteries (all sizes)
- Tarps
- Blankets
- Backpacks
- Men's Underwear (new/unused)
- Socks
- Tennis shoes
- Sunscreen and Bug Spray
And the following food and personal hygiene items:
- Canned goods, Flip-top lids as many homeless individuals do not have can openers
- Canned goods, non-flip top to be used by the shelters
- Personal hygiene items (deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, etc.)
We will still accept your coats, hats, gloves, and scarves but the greatest needs are listed above. We are distributing the items along with your financial contributions to these shelters and organizations:
About the Event
Join us on Saturday, December 14 for a 4 mile and 2 mile run/walk from Mount Carmel Lewis Center. We are changing things up for the event this year. The primary goal of the event is for the running and multi sport community of Central Ohio to give back and support others in need. The cost of the event is only $10-20 (depending on registration date) and helps to cover the cost of event labor, timing tags and bibs, traffic control and any event sundry needs. Long sleeve shirts will be an option to purchase. To keep cost down we are not going to provide medals or awards as the focus of this event is for our running and multi sport community to give back.
All participants will still receive timed results and post-event celebration with hot chocolate, coffee, and light snacks.

Street Medicine
For more than 30 years, the Mount Carmel Street Medicine program has been providing free urgent medical care to central Ohioans whom are uninsured or underinsured. The Street Medicine team serves the individuals experiencing homelessness, refugees, immigrants, victims of human trafficking, and anyone who has barriers accessing medical care. The Street Medicine mobile medical coach visits 9 regular central Ohio sites on a rotating basis and offers urgent medical care, common medications, limited vaccinations, employment screenings, case management, and referrals to primary care, spiritual care, as well as other community resources, such as housing, food and addiction treatment resources.
The Street Medicine team is comprised of a comprehensive team of health-care professionals, including a family practice physician, nurse practitioner, registered nurses, medical technicians, bilingual case workers, and administrators who are prepared to provide the care and support these patients need most. The Street Medicine program is a proud member of the International Street Medicine Institute, and is a vital part of Franklin County’s healthcare safety net, providing free quality care to more than 6,000 uninsured and underinsured patients annually. The goal of the department is to reduce unnecessary emergency department visits, and to support and empower community members to create a more vital, harmonious and sustainable life.
