My Story…

CASA protects and advocates for kids in the foster system who have been abused or neglected. I've had the incredible honor to get to know these precious little lives. They are just as deserving as any other children, and through no fault of their own, they've been put into a terrible situation. What I've come to realize is that abuse and neglect happens regardless of whether we want to pay attention... but what we get to decide is how we RESPOND to that situation! CASA's Advocate volunteers are the absolute best people I've ever met, and they're changing the world for hundreds of children. I'll be running the 10k in 2020 and hope you'll join me in making your run count for CASA kids! Donations to our team help us recruit and train volunteers who give our kids hope. There are currently around 200 CASA kids without an advocate, and these dollars go directly to filling the gap. Thank you for joining and giving!! 💙👟

Description

I'm running because I want to give a voice to an abused or neglected child.

Champaign County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) recruits, trains, and monitors volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children.
Please join us in running to give a child a voice. CASA's goal is to raise $1,200 to sponsor a child's advocacy for an entire year right here in Champaign County.

The problem of abused and neglected children in Champaign County is a serious issue in this climate of underfunded services in Illinois. Over 350 children are currently in the court system because of abuse or neglect, and over 40% of those children are under the age of six.
