Hilton Head Island
Sunset Rotary Club
With around 40 members, we think we are ideally structured to provide a special offering to visitors and prospective members. All Rotary clubs are dedicated to service above self, we are no exception, nor are the other three area Rotary clubs. But we are the only area dinner club and just the right size to socialize around the Yacht Club bar with our visiting guests and fellow members before each meeting, We are also fortunate to have great meals catered by "Miss Pat" and interesting speakers to make our meetings extra special. The comfortable relaxed meetings make us a popular choice of Visiting Rotarians, to make their home away from home. After all we are "The Fun Club".
But there is much more to Rotary that enjoyable meetings. Our members are a group of accomplished, goal-oriented individuals, that have a strong sense of service to others and like to get things DONE. We are right-sized to stay active in team projects working with other members for the good of the community and select Rotary International projects. We have only one annual fund raiser, but it is a fun one, , the “19th Hole” at the RBC Heritage golf tournament. It gives us a chance to interact with locals and visitors who patronize the week long tournament demonstrating the club’s strong commitment to volunteerism and our community. And we tend to be a generous group to the Rotary Foundation. But our best contributions and greatest enjoyment come from the community support directly from our members' time and talent.
Some of the projects that the club has been involved with include: painting corral fencing at Wish Upon a Horse, painting the island’s Children’s Center,. helping out the Hilton Head Island Fire Department annual pancake breakfast fundraiser, Salvation Army bell ringing, contributing “sweat equity” to prep the grounds for the new First Tee Program on Hilton Head Island, to name a few. .
Our club offers prospective members opportunities to have active important roles in other committee projects involving club, international, vocational, and youth services. The greater Hilton Head Island area has a close-nit group of four Rotary Clubs that provide members an opportunities to meet area Rotarians through intra-club service and visits to their meetings and events.
