Description
ARF provides spay and neuter programs for cats and dogs belonging to members of rural communities in Alberta along with sponsoring spay/neuter clinics in these communities through the Alberta Spay/Neuter Task Force. In 2011, ARF’s spay/neuter program helped approximately 235 cats and dogs. ARF also began an animal assisted therapy program called the “Purr Project”. The Purr Project is the first of its kind in Calgary and is modeled on similar animal assisted therapy programs in the United States in which memory care (dementia) residents help care for and socialize cats & kittens in preparation for adoption.
