My Story…
My reason for running
11 years ago, medical staff at the Ottawa Hospital brought me back from the edge of survival. In the ICU on life support, I received an unbelievable 25 blood transfusions after a near-fatal complication from a previously undiscovered sarcoma in my digestive system. I can't even begin to count how many doctors and nurses from different disciplines helped me pull through two major surgeries and many emergency procedures. Aside from saving my life, the hospital provided precious support to my family when my survival was in question.
Today, I’m still here celebrating my 11th anniversary of survival with zero recurrence, enjoying the little moments with my children and trying not to take my health for granted. The Ottawa Hospital means a lot to me, and I hope you will consider contributing as a way to celebrate with me!
