My Story…
Hey all!
I'm so pumped to be participating in Ottawa’s Race Weekend – the virtual edition! My training has gone well over the past couple of months so I decided - what the heck - run the marathon! I've mapped out my route , assembled a great support crew and am all set to run Labour Day weekend.
I've had the opportunit to experience the Ottawa Race Weekend in a variety of ways. I've run the 10k, was a pace bunny for the marathon on two occasions and for the past 5 years, played the main stage with my band Dance Commander for the post-marathon celebration party.
It's a fantastic event. The team at Run Ottawa and the hundreds of volunteers do an amazing job in staging the country’s best running event. I’m pleased to be able to support the organization by taking part in Ottawa’s Virtual Race Weekend.and be part of the Charity Challenge by raising money for Immigrant Women Services Ottawa!

Description
Our vision is the elimination of all forms of abuse against women and children; and achieving social and economic equality for immigrant, and visible minority women. We work to empower immigrant and visible minority women in the City of Ottawa. We provide a culturally responsive crisis counselling service and a language interpretation service which will facilitate an abused woman’s access to community and mainstream services. We also provide settlement services and educational classes such as sewing, French and English classes, and computer classes.
