My Story…
I started singing at a very early age with the Kingsway Lambton United Church Junior Choir with Jean Ashworth Bartle conducting. This experience set me up for a life long passion for choral singing. I still have a vivid memory of my first audition for the Toronto Children’s Chorus in 1978 and I continue to hold amazing memories, especially from the concerts held in Westminster & Brecon Cathedrals and singing in front of a crowd of 10, 000 at the International Eisteddfod in Wales. Choral music brings people together; it fosters a community to create beautiful music and it helps us envision possibilities beyond the every day life. Choral music takes hard work, discipline and practice to perform but it offers a great return by enriching the lives for those performing and listening. I am running a 5 km charity race on May 2, 2020 to raise funds for the Grand Philharmonic Choir. Please consider sponsoring me on this run to raise funds to support our choral endeavours. Description
On May 2, 2020, the Grand Philharmonic Choir will be
participating in the Scotiabank Mississauga Marathon once again. The Scotiabank Charity Challenge fundraising event was very successful and raised a little over $9,000 for our choir last year. This year we are starting earlier and stronger than ever and we hope to do even better!
It is a fun way for us to fundraise. It gives all levels of our organisation, from the Children and Youth Choirs to the Adult and Chamber Choirs, a chance to work together at keeping our learning programs going , as well as our performances and our community events.
