My Story…
My family owes a lot to Children’s Hospital. At the young age of 16, my brother was diagnosed with cancer. Although he was 16 years old at the time, Children’s Hospital did take him in as a patient. Over a period of eight months and 2 surgeries, Chad went from stage four cancer to being cancer free for over 30 years. The only reason that this happened was because of the excellent care and doctors that were provided to him by this great organization. Currently, my step daughter has been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension and a multitude of other terminal items. Because she is autistic, figuring out her physical ailments, when she is in pain, when she feels sick, when she feels good, are all very large challenges. Kate has been a patient for her entire life both in Pittsburgh and, over the last couple years, visits to Philadelphia. She will continue to go to Children’s Hospital for the rest of her life. The amount of effort put into her continuous care is unquantifiable.
Description
Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation is the sole fundraising arm of UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
The foundation exists to provide financial support for the hospital’s mission of improving the health and well-being of children, teenagers, and young adults through excellence in patient care, teaching, research, and advocacy.
