Help Nicole raise money

For participating in 2020 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend

My Story…

My name is Nicole. I have been running in races for over 15 years. . Running was a go to, something I could do without thinking about. 2 years ago that all changed for me. I lost a lot of weight, ate constantly, peed constantly, fatigue and was losing a grip on life. When I went to the doctor I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes with an A1C of 14. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas are mistakenly destroyed by the body’s immune system. Though physical activity is great, controlling my sugars through it all is even more difficult. So what could I do, did I stop running and let Type 1 win? No! I practice, every step, every mile, every day is a way to learn more about my diabetes. How to treat, live with it and run with it. Type 1 diabetes is tough, but I am tougher! I am running for Team JDRF, a fantastic charity that supports research to find a cure and support those who already have Type 1. Help me to end T1D
