My Story…
Welp, I guess they named the team after me.... Tuesdays with Timmy.
The work of Open Hand Ministries depends on volunteers, volunteers like my teammates Vitali, Roy, Dan, and Nick. Once I had the chance to work with them for the first time 3 years ago, I KNEW that we had to make it a regular thing - even if it meant offering volunteer opportunities in the evening, after a typical day's work - hence Tuesday [Evenings] with Timmy were born.
Providing affordable, energy-efficient, durable, and elegantly renovated properties for First Time, Affordable Homeownership opportunities requires skilled talent from the likes of Vitali, Roy, Nick, and Dan.
It takes the focused cooperation of the families and allies in our Circles program.
It requires the generous support of Donors like you.
And it requires someone to send nagging emails on Tuesday evenings (yours truly).
Description
Open Hand Ministries promotes justice in the East End of Pittsburgh by building a diverse community focused on financial wellness, equity creation, and home-ownership. Initially founded as a ministry of four churches, we respond to social injustice and inequality plaguing our city by providing opportunities for sustainable and affordable homeownership for families in fragile situations. We serve our community by creating community. We partner with like-hearted organizations and individuals, urban and suburban churches, community development corporations, lending agencies, expert trade skill professionals, funding organizations, and other local support agencies in order to equip our families and community for success and homeownership.
