20 March 2020 - Bay of Fundy International Marathon Statement: COVID-19 Virus Pandemic
It is with deep regret that we announce the postponement of the 8th Bay of Fundy International Marathon for one calendar year, ie. until Sunday 27th June 2021. This is not a decision we made lightly and we know it will cause much disappointment. However, in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and our concern for everyone’s safety, we cannot responsibly continue to prepare for, and anticipate conducting, this event in 3 months time. We will be communicating with all registered runners very shortly regarding deferments, refunds, and other options, but to all our runners, volunteers, partners, sponsors, businesses, organizations, and other friends and supporters, we apologize for this disruption. Thank you all for your continued support and let’s look forward to the Marathon weekend of 25-27 June 2021. Please stay safe.

Please note that you will cross an international border between two countries during the race (except the 10K which stays entirely within the USA). You do not have to stop at the border while running, but you must have a passport or other travel documentation valid for travel in Canada and the USA in order to register and these will be reviewed by border agents at the international bridge on the two days before the race.
As a two country event we have two of most things, including registration sites. This is the USA site. The Canadian site is identical, except that it accepts payment in Canadian dollars not US dollars. If you are a USA national or a resident of the USA you should register on this site. If you are a Canadian citizen or a Canadian resident you should register on the Canadian site. Runners from other countries may register on either site.

Runners who would like to raise money for charity are encouraged to support our charity of choice for 2020: the Campobello Island Community Food Bank, known locally as "the Clothes Line" and operated by two of our most supportive volunteers. You will probably meet them running the Water Station at the Canadian Fisheries Station on Race Day. Simply press the donate button on the left side of this page to make a contribution towards helping needy residents with food and clothing.

From the most easterly point in the continental USA to the Lubec waterfront. No borders crossed. Fast and flat - except for a couple of hills in the last 1km.

Borders and Passports
Runners in the marathon, half-marathon and ultramarathon all cross the Canada-USA border multiple times. In order to pre-clear you with the border agencies we need you to provide your passport or other travel document information now. In June you will have to show these documents at both the Canada and USA border crossings in Lubec and Campobello when you pick up your race bib. You will then be waved through the border crossings in the runner lane during the event and will not have to stop.
The 10K is run entirely in the USA and passports are not required, unless you want to cross the border while you are here. You will be required to show photo-ID at bib pick-up so we can be sure you are getting the right bib.
