BC CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL: RARE DISEASE TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH
BC Children’s is the only hospital in the province devoted exclusively to the care of children. That means one million kids – including some of the sickest and most seriously injured – count on the hospital for specialized care they often can’t receive anywhere else.
BC Children’s long-term research partner, the Rare Disease Foundation, believes that “Research Is Care” for members of the rare disease community, many of them children. Since the inception of their microgrant program in 2008 which focuses on a holistic patient-centric approach or “Translational Care”, the Rare Disease Foundation has funded over 500 individual research projects delivering 11 potential cures.
Donations from this year's Great Trek Race will be supporting the Rare Disease Foundation's translational research program at BC Children's Hospital. Thank you for your support!
