Help Phoebe raise money

For participating in Blue Nose Marathon

My Story…

This year, with the remote option to participate in the Bluenose Marathon from anywhere, a small group of Sea School friends and I will be paddling a full marathon (42km) along the Annapolis River here in Nova Scotia. We are paddling in memory of our dear friend Zoë Nudell, and to raise money for the Sea School’s bursary fund, which helps make programming financially accessible to all those who are interested. As a former Sea School participant, staff member, and current board member I can personally vouch for the Sea School’s impact!

The region we are paddling spans the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq - in Mi'kmaq, the valley is in the district of Kespukwik ('last flow'), and its primary river is Te'wapskik, meaning 'flowing out between high rocks'. We honour the Peace and Friendship Treaties that allow us shared use of the river, and are grateful for the rich boat building history of the Mi'kmaq that gave way for us to be able to paddle one of the most awesome boat designs - the canoe!

Our team includes some amazing and experienced Sea School instructors who have been instrumental in shaping youth perspectives over the past 10+ years.  This is a celebratory paddle to the sea and every dollar counts towards Sea School's long term impact for youth!

All donations are tax receipted, and will automatically be sent when you donate online.

Thank you, wela'lioq!

Description

TEAM ZOE of The Nova Scotia Sea School will be participating in this year's Scotiabank Bluenose Marathon Charity Challenge in honour of our friend, alumni and sea Captain, Zoe Nudell, who tragically passed in November of 2013. She was spirited, giving and passionate about helping youth find their footing in the world through adventure and sailing experiences.

JOIN US!!  YOU DON’T NEED TO BE A RUNNER TO CELEBRATE!!  TEAM ZOE is a diverse group of alumni, participants, staff and board members.  We will be walking, running, dancing and bowline tying our way to the finish line of the youth run and 5K during our 8th year in this awesome and inspiring community event.

This year, we hope to raise over $5000 towards our Leadership Ark Training Program. TEAM ZOE will fundraise in support of continued programming, to provide transformational leadership opportunities for youth across Nova Scotia
