My Story…
A spinal cord injury can happen to anyone in a split second yet its' life altering effects last forever. It can be both emotional and financially devastating. After my accident it was my family and friends who kept me going at times when didn't think I could. During this challenging time I saw my future as bleak-until a quadriplegic from SCI BC rolled into my hospital room and gave me a ray of hope. The peer counsellor provided me with hope that people with disabilities could live 'normal lives' and participate in the world as others do. With financial support from SCI BC I graduated from UBC which opened doors to opportunities I never dreamed were possible when I was first injured. I hope to pay it forward by participating in the Scotiabank half marathon. Any support you give is appreciated and will assist SCI BC to continue providing programs & services to help people with spinal cord injuries and related disabilities to adjust, adapt, and thrive.
