Our story…

The Providence Health Care Speech Language Pathologists assess and treat swallowing disorders (called dysphagia) that can often result from a stroke, traumatic brain injury, tracheostomy, degenerative and infectious disease (e.g., Parkinson's, ALS, MS, Dementia, AIDS), or head/neck surgery and cancer. In order to help people with dysphagia, SLPs need to complete swallowing tests (sometimes called fluoroscopy and endoscopy) to visualize what is happening to food and drink as they pass through the mouth and the throat. These assessments require technical equipment for viewing, recording and seating. Your donations will go towards purchasing new, upgraded equipment to ensure these tests are completed comfortably, efficiently, and with the ability to gather the most precise information.
