Loyola Arrupe Centre for Seniors, operating as LA Centre for Active Living

•    LA Centre serves 2000 older Toronto adults who live alone, three quarters of whom struggle with poverty, and many of whom live in fear. We offer a safe haven where seniors can participate in recreation, education and outings from four locations. The pandemic has changed our work, but it continues. While programming is suspended, we make hundreds of calls each week to seniors, who are desperate for conversation. Calls normally lasting a few minutes now take twenty and thirty minutes. We also drop off 300 food hampers and 3,000 meals per week, and respond to urgent needs.
