My Story…
Thank you for sponsoring me in my 10K walk for Tonembee Association. I am a board member of Tonembee Association in Canada, and Tonembee Foundation USA in the U.S., charitable organizations that were founded by my sister Nikila Cole. Tonembee's mission is to sponsor high school and university education of young people in a village in Kenya, to support the development and distribution of innovative solar cookers to the villagers, and to provide emergency relief funds as needed. We are currently supporting them in obtaining and distributing masks and hand sanitizers, and instructions on how to use them and social distancing during COVID-19. In the Kamba language Tonembee means 'Moving forward with Vision'. More information on Tonembee Association: www.tonembee.com.
Description
Tonembee sponsors watch a deserving student make their way through a high school or university education. They see families use solar cookers, improving their health and environment or happily watch a family move back into a re-built house after a devastating flood. Our person to person approach means having regular access to the people you are helping in a meaningful way. 100% of donation funds go directly to Kithuia Village, Kenya.
Our ongoing goal this year is to help the village get their own solar cooker manufacturing company off the ground and turned into a sustainable cottage industry. www.tonembee.com
