Help Jemima raise money

For participating in Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Virtual Race 2020

My Story…

Hello beautiful people. I'm Jemima, I'm 21 years old, and I'm a second-year student at the University of Toronto. I started working at Urban Promise in the summer of 2016. I began working as a volunteer that summer then got hired as a leader in September of that year, and became a program director in the summer of 2017. I primarily worked with the older kids from ages 11-14, the YMADs (Youths making a difference), and would occasionally work with the younger kids from ages 5-10. Urban Promise is an organization that is committed to working with children in the Toronto housing community, reaching out to them with the love of Jesus, and raising them to be great leaders of their communities in the future.

This year I'm participating in my first 5K run in a marathon hosted by The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Virtual Race that will take place from October 1st - 31st. I'll be running on Oct. 4th, and my personal goal is to raise  $100 to donate to Urban Promise to contribute to their goal of raising $90,000 to run the camp. Thank you in advance for your gracious hand in helping me to reach my personal goal.

I believe in this organization and the Godly work the staff and leaders are doing. Serving these kids and helping to give them a solid foundation to build their futures upon. I would love to exceed my goal of $100, if it is in your heart to give more, you could do so directly on the Urban Promise website, or you could contribute to my personal goal. If you'd like to know more information about the organization, feel free to visit their website:https://www.urbanpromise.com/

Description

Children living in Toronto Community Housing want what any kid wants...

>To be known, accepted and valued.

>To become just like their role models.

>To dream.

They're up against some tough realities...

>material poverty

>lack of resources

>destructive cycles

>broken families

>lure of drugs

>threat of violence

Which can make them feel unworthy, defeated, angry, hopeless.

BUT EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE HOPE, AND EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW JESUS-THE AUTHOR OF HOPE ITSELF.

Join The Run for Promise Team - Raise funds supporting programs where children are known, accepted and valued by positive role models, providing opportunities to dream.
