Dear Friends,
I hope this note finds you well, and that you are safely enjoying this lovely Fall weather.
As you know, Deborah and I are working to establish a rural, residential treatment and transition centre for young adults 19-35 years who live with serious mental illness. It's a huge project! I hope you don't mind me sharing our current fundraising effort with you.
Three generations of Coopers will be walking 5km this weekend to raise much needed funds in support of Eli's Place! These are challenging times for small charities so the Scotiabank Charity Challenge is a very important event for us this fall! Although our Team cannot walk together this year, we are very much together in our devotion to bring Eli's Place to reality.

For the 119,000 young adults in Ontario grappling with serious mental illness, access to effective treatment is grossly inadequate. The cost in lives lived with debilitating challenges or lost to early death is far too great. The vision of Eli’s Place aims to bring hope. A first-of-its-kind in Canada, Eli’s Place is modelled after a leading rural, residential long-term treatment centre with proven success. Programs that incorporate therapeutic work, specialized care and skills training will offer a path to recovery for people in this underserved age group, giving them the tools to heal and move from simply surviving to living.
