Help Cindy raise money

For participating in Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Virtual Race 2020

My Story…

These folks have no access to CERB funds, Employment Insurance, or Social Assistance Benifits. This was one of the first cities to shut down back in April, and while that kept virus numbers down, people lost all of their spring income, that would normally have gotten them through the summer. We now need to shore up food for the fall, because tourism is going to be cut drastically for at least another year. Carol is currently facilitating the delivery of over 300 hampers a week, along with the daily community kitchens that feed a few hundred meals a day. Any assistance you can offer, even $5 or $10, will be greatly appreciated and will feed a family for days.

Description

For ten years, AMISTAD CANADA (AC) has been working to improve the lives of Mexicans-in-need through health and education Projects delivered in partnership with fourteen Mexican NGOs.

Projects include: mobile medical-dental service to remote communities; healthy school meals; underwriting medical care for sick and disabled children; supplemental classes in subjects such as literacy, computer skills, English and the arts; primary to post-secondary scholarships; a school for the Deaf; and a therapy centre for children with various disabilities.

AC participation in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge will provide Mexican-Canadians, and other runners who are attached to Mexico, an opportunity to support these initiatives.
