My Story…
Hello Friends,
Thank you for considering helping Islington United Church's Running For Refugees Team in this year's Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Virtual Race. We have been involved with this event for 12 years. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, we are unable to participate in the usual way, walking along Toronto's Lakeshore Boulevard and all the way up Bay St. to City Hall for a total of 5 kilometres. Normally, we get to enjoy the company and camraderie of about 25,000 other participants along the way. All off them are donating their time and energy to raise money for a good cause. Many of them are bedecked in crazy, colourful costumes which usually have a reference to whatever charity they are representing. This year, our team will be gathering at our church and walking for 5 kilometres on a trail in the neighbourhood. We will be creating our own festive atmosphere, no doubt. The event will be virtual and will be posted. It will take place sometime between October 1-31st.

Interested in changing the lives of others for the better in a direct and compelling way? The “Running and Walking for Refugees Team” at Islington United Church would love to have you join us. For 41 years we have sponsored refugee families and individuals worldwide. Over a 12-month period we provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment including accommodation, furnishings, clothing, food, transportation, medical care, education, employment opportunities and friendship.
