My Story…
Jennifer and I will be walking 5k together, to raise funds in support of the young women being helped by Sancta Maria House. I will probably end up walking 50K warming up for the 5k. There is a suggestion Jennifer will have to carry me for the last 500 meters. The Bride has been quite clear, there will be no carrying, but she would be willing to help drag me. It sounds painful!
In all seriousness, Sancta Maria House is one of the two agencies Harry has been working with over the past year, as we sort out his memory challenges. Sancta Maria House gives homeless young women a new beginning. Harry has been grateful for the opportunity to help the young women, which is so reminiscent of the work we did when we first met, 38 years ago. Description
Sancta Maria House aims to help young women strengthen their mental health, learn life skills and stay in school. Your donation will help us to provide for the girls in our care, both physically and emotionally.
We have a variety of teams and individuals participating in the Scotiabank Marathon event for Sancta Maria House. A Catholic priest who is a marathoner has volunteered to run “The Whole Shebang” (marathon, half marathon, 10k and 5k) on behalf of the agency. We also have board members running the marathon as a relay (10.5k) and staff and friends running or walking the 5k distance. This is truly an all involved event for us.
We believe that this effort and our appeal for support will provide a strong call to action and will raise our profile and assist in fundraising and friend building.
