In March of 2018 my family visited the rural community of Dekpor in Ghana. We saw the harsh reality of the people who live there and the incredible difference that DSDO (Dekpor School Development Organisation) is making for those people. DSDO works to make the lives of the people in Dekpor better by focusing on their health and education. DSDO brings in dentists and runs immunization and health clinics, has built public toilets and teaches families about hygiene. A water filtration system in the village means they have access to a clean source of water. DSDO provided fuel efficient cook stoves to the families which means the women don't have to spend so much time collecting wood and there is less smoke in the home. At school the students have access to food they wouldn't otherwise get to eat. And the student sponsorship program gives the kids a real fighting chance to lift their family out of poverty by ensuring their school fees are paid, uniforms and school supplies are provided, and the teachers have up to date training. The work the DSDO volunteers do is incredible and I've seen the impact first hand.

Dekpor School Development Organisation = hard-working volunteers improving: education, sanitation, clean water, nutrition, health, sponsorships, business start-ups, and crop diversity in rural Ghana.
Funds raised at this event are what allow us to run our food programme. Breakfast and lunch are served to 150 students at school, but, gee, we'd love to add even more of the 1000 students to the list of recipients!
