Raise money for Victoria Hospitals Foundation
The Victoria Hospitals Foundation raises funds for priority medical equipment and special projects at Royal Jubilee Hospital and Victoria General Hospital, Vancouver Island’s largest and most comprehensive health care resources.
As the charity of choice for the Island Race Series your donation will go towards a new defibrillator. A defibrillator is a potentially life-saving device used when a person has a heart attack. It is equipped with paddles, which are placed on the patient’s chest and an electrical shock is delivered to the heart to regulate the beat in the case of atrial fibrillation, or shock the heart back to normal sinus rhythm (a normal heartbeat pattern) if there is a lethal arrhythmia (irregular, abnormal heartbeat). This defibrillator will be used at the Victoria General Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where over 600 patients were treated last year. Intensive care patients are some of the most vulnerable. Critically ill or severely injured, they require one-to-one medical attention and continuous monitoring. Thank you for your contribution.
