Dear DSA of Greater Charlotte Friends,
The Board of Directors of the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte, in coordination with our event production and sponsorship teams, have been closely monitoring the community impact of the arrival of COVID-19. We've received recommendations from a variety of resources, including organizations that specifically service our community and stakeholders, as well as public health agencies at local, state and federal levels.
Given the totality of the information we've received, in consideration of the members of the Down syndrome community who may be immunocompromised or otherwise susceptible, and out of an abundance of caution, the Board of Directors has voted to cancel all events and programming through the end of March and into the foreseeable future. This includes the 3-2-1 DASH, as well as the World Down Syndrome Day celebration scheduled on Saturday, 3/21/20. While we do plan to reschedule as many of the impacted events as possible, we will be working with Start2Finish to provide refunds to those 3-2-1 DASH participants who request them. The deadline to request a refund is 4/20/2021. Thank you to all participants who chose to donate their registration fee to the DSA-GC so that we can continue planning programs and supports for people with Down syndrome and their families.
Also, the Town Hall scheduled for March 26 is canceled, but will be presented in a "virtual" format in the near future. Forward any questions you might have for the Board to Holly Zipperer (hzipperer@dsa-gc.org) or Marissa White (mwhite@dsa-gc.org).
Please monitor our social media feeds and emails for additional information as the Board and staff of the DSA of Greater Charlotte work to serve our community. Stay safe and be well as we continue to navigate this evolving situation together.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors
Holly Zipperer, M.Ed.
