Description
We believe our work is critical to future generations. Studies show when parents have their fundamental basic needs met, they are more likely to support and nurture their children and the entire family has a better chance at overcoming homelessness. Equally, children who have nurturing and stimulating experiences with their parents tend to achieve more in life and school.
Since many of our families facing homelessness work, they must decide between the cost of getting to work or a month's worth of diapers (about $80/month). Government assistance programs do not pay for diapers. The cost to families can increase because they may lack the opportunity to purchase or even store diapers in bulk. This means parents improvise to make diapers stretch further, changing diapers less often or attempting to clean and reuse disposable diapers, which are health and safety hazards. We know that if parents don’t have to worry about the basics, they can better nurture their children. We feel privileged to play a small part in helping innocent children who have no say in their circumstances
