On Sunday, June 21st 2020, I am participating in Wheels benefitting The Darling Home for Kids because I want to make a difference in my community. Every dollar I raise through my participation in this event will directly support The Darling Home for Kids.
The Darling Home for Kids is a place of joy, filled with the smiles and laughter of children engaging in unique and enriching experiences. Located in Milton, it is a state of the art facility providing respite, palliative and residential care for children who are medically complex, many of whom depend on technology for daily living. Since opening the doors to families in 2004, The Darling Home for Kids has provided over 500,000 hours of service.
As Ontario’s first paediatric hospice and respite centre, The Darling Home for Kids was built on 77 acres of woodlands to provide essential care to families facing the daily challenges of caring for a child with complex medical needs. Requiring care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the parents of these special children need support. Currently, The Darling Home for Kids is one of only three homes in Ontario providing highly specialized paediatric hospice and respite services, and the only home to also offer long term residential care. This means the organization is truly one-of-a-kind, and in very high demand with more than 16,000 Ontario children requiring this level of care.

My Story…
There is no place like this place. In a peaceful and natural setting, The Darling Home for Kids serves medically complex children and their families with hospice, respite and residential programming. As the Social Worker, and am continuously inspired by the children who teach me about perseverance, patience, gratitude, and challenge our assumptions of quality of life. Countless parents have told me that they were warned by doctors that their child would not survive past infancy. Now, they have beaten the odds and we want to help them make the most day of each day they have with us.
Help me reach my goal of $750 in the annual Wheel Ride for The Darling Home for Kids!! Give a little, or give a lot - any amount makes a difference and every amount will be matched by the Orlando Corporation! Help us create a world where no child is too complex to receive the love, care, and support they deserve.
