Our story…
It’ll be 4 years in December since Maddy was diagnosed with epilepsy. What we thought was a bad fall, turned out to be one of the worst nightmares in my life (close 2nd, Trump becoming President - gosh what horrid end to 2016). Having the unwavering strength of my husband, support from family and friends, and health insurance (!), over the years we’ve learned to manage her seizures, mainly through a cocktail of medications, adjusting our spontaneous lifestyle, and lots of love. Despite 2020 having been described as a horrible year for many reasons, an obvious one being this atrocious virus, Maddy has been doing better in that she’s not having as many seizures, because she’s at home, less stressed, and getting more sleep. We are thankful for this silver lining, that she has been able to “heal” a little, throughout this almost unbearable year. I’m talking about all of this now because November happens to be epilepsy awareness month & while I’ve been struggling with sharing this information (even though a lot you already know this about Maddy), I think it’s important to get the word out and support the cause. Typically a fundraiser run takes place earlier in the year, however, as you can imagine it was postponed so it has been turned into a virtual run. With only 2 days left in the month, I plan to run (well, probably walk briskly) a 5K for my girl. Thanks for taking the time to read my message.
