My Story…
I was diagnosed with migraine in 1997 at 18 years old. I spent the 1st year learning the hard way that I'm unable to take triptan medications, the primary ones prescribed for symptoms. My doctor found a medication to give me. But it was taken off the market a few years later. In the meantime, my periodic migraine became more frequent & unpredictable. I had more triggers & symptoms.
In 2013, I had a severe migraine episode, the kind that usually lasted 2 or 3 days. But that time it kept going. For days & days, it didn't stop. When I got to my pre-scheduled neurologist appointment 7 weeks later, it was still happening. I was diagnosed with chronic migraine & began a years long trial & error process of treatments.
It's now 2020. I haven't had a day without migraine since 2013. I'm on disability. Medications & treatments only keep the absolute worst symptoms at bay. I've lost a lot of freedoms. But I keep managing day by day.
I'm continuing to try new treatments & staying hopeful.
