Help Lori raise money

For participating in Miles for Migraine - DC/VA 2020

My Story…

Migraines don't stop for a pandemic and neither will we! It's a strange year of Miles for Migraine, to be sure, but it's a strange year of everything. It will be our 5th year of participating, but the first year it's a virtual event.

I've had chronic migraine since I was around 11 years old. It's a weird kind -- constant, and resistant to many, many treatments. My family and friends have been with me through doctors who suggested things like jazzercise (Not zumba, jazzercise. He was very specific.), making everything smell like lavender, daily opiates in middle school (we politely said no thank you), and more. I've since had the great fortune of being treated by excellent headache specialists in New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Virginia/DC.

This year, your donations will support the headache center where I have been treated since 2013 and visit every three months. The Medstar Georgetown Headache Center is training a fellow as a headache specialist and conducts research in addition to the time they spend treating patients like me. There are an estimated 500 headache specialists for 38 million Americans with migraine, so every one that can be trained is critical. Patients treated by headache specialists can find the right treatments instead of hearing about jazzercise or having their pain dismissed.

Recent advances in migraine research have brought about migraine treatments that help me live my life more normally, and now even more are becoming possible. Your donation helps support a brighter future for those with migraine.

Thank you!
