Help Maura raise money

For participating in The Amity Island Running Club 5K Race For Jabberwocky

My Story…

Wyatt on the first day of camp 2019. The first time he was at Camp and ever away from home was in 2015. I remember asking the Director (and the nurse and doctor) "you mean I can just leave and he'll be okay". He'll be fine they said, see ya' next week. So I left. But... I spied on the Jabberwocky bus that week as it ferried campers to the beach, to ball games, to crazy activities. I "dropped by" camp to see plays, and singing, and camp shenanigans. It was like any other camp except ALL of the campers have CP or similar disability AND - all the counselors, nurses, doctors, drivers, kitchen staff, and activity people are volunteers. No kidding!! Volunteers. They schlepped wheelchairs, walkers, and adaptive water equipment. They lifted, carried, assisted, pushed and rolled campers. They washed, showered, dressed and fed campers every day. Wyatt loved every minute of it. He came home with most of his clothes and a lot of sand. The love and joy of Camp Jabberwocky is amazing!

Description

I am raising money to help Camp Jabberwocky, an overnight camp and inclusive community for people of all ages with and without disabilities! Camp Jabberwocky is free to all participants, so all funding comes from donations from people like YOU!

In a typical summer, Camp Jabberwocky would have about 400 people of all abilities come through Camp, spending anywhere from a long weekend to a month there! All counselors, medical staff, session directors, and cooks are volunteers, and together we spend our days swimming at the beach, biking, putting on a musical, throwing a prom, flying in a biplane, visiting alpacas, and so much more!

This summer, we are not running physical Camp but are hosting virtual activities daily, including many of the same activities we would usually do at Camp! Additionally, we are sending hundreds of care packages out to our community, filled with crafts, our Camp shirt, s'mores materials, and treasures from MV to make sure that everyone feels connected to our community and enriched all summer long!

Any amount you are able to give will help Camp Jabberwocky keep its community strong and having fun in the years to come! Thank you for your support!
