Our Story

Perkins is excited to be participating in Dougie's Epic Adventure: A Magical Flutie 5K to raise money to help people and families who are affected by autism live life to the fullest! Perkins works with many unique and special individuals, who, like Dougie, have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our individualized care, expertise, and innovative approaches help the people we support lead capable, connected and healthy lives. Be a part of TEAM PERKINS and join with us in a collaborative, empowering and wonderful network of positivity! 100% of the proceeds raised here by our team will support Perkins. At Perkins, we're committed to carrying out our mission to promote meaningful and sustained well-being for children, youth and adults facing educational, developmental, or mental health challenges. Help our team reach our goal for Dougie's Epic Adventure: A Magical Flutie 5K, to raise critical funds for the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism to help people and families affected by autism live life to the fullest! 


Former NFL Quarterback, Doug Flutie, and his wife Laurie started the Doug Flutie, Jr. Flutie Foundation for Autism in 1998 after their son, Dougie, was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Their personal experience of raising a son on the autism spectrum inspired them to help others on an equally long and challenging journey. Over its 22-year history, the Flutie Foundation has distributed over $15 million to partner schools and organizations who provide clinical therapies, respite services, recreational programs, social skills training, job supports and more for people and families affected by autism.The Flutie Foundation also provides direct financial support to families through initiatives like education technology tools, adaptive camp scholarships, safety equipment, to provide immediate help where it's needed the most.
