For participating in Islanders Race to the Rink Virtual 5K

My Story

I am running a virtual 5K for the Islanders Children's Foundation, help me fundraise for a great cause!

Description

The Islanders Children’s Foundation (ICF) was created in the Summer of 2003 as a registered 501(c)(3) and as an extension of late owner Charles B. Wang and his passion to help children and to provide them with the best opportunities to live happy, healthy, successful lives. The Islanders majority ownership group, under the leadership of Scott Malkin and Jon Ledecky, share the same belief in philanthropic causes and continue to make the ICF a staple in the team’s community efforts.   Since its inception, the ICF has raised more than $14 million dollars to help those in the community.

The Islanders Children’s Foundation is dedicated to providing opportunities to children in the local community.  The Foundation focuses on health, education and youth hockey development.  The ICF creates and implements in-house programs to support local youth, and supports non-profit organizations that share a common mission. In addition, the ICF supports some of the NHL’s core initiatives.

The ICF holds many fundraising events and programs throughout the course of the season, including:   the annual golf outing, one of the Foundation’s premiere fundraising events; specialty-themed jersey auctions; game-night fundraising inclusive of the 50/50 raffle and silent auction; plus other holiday and cause-related fundraisers.

The Islanders believe in supporting our youth to help ensure a successful future.  We see the hardships that many families are forced to endure, and believe these families deserve support from everyone in the community. The Islanders take pride in being a leader in helping families through these tough circumstances.
