Help Amy raise money

For participating in 2021 BMO Vancouver Marathon

My Story…

Hi! The pandemic has been hard. After too much malaise, some depression and generally feeling like I was just managing to keep my head above water much of the time, I decided I needed some kind of goal to work toward. I hate running, but I signed up for a virtual half-marathon anyway. And I have to admit it helped me feel more like myself!

My pandemic experience has been exponentially easier than others (I mean if all it took was some consistent exercise and few more social contacts, I'm sitting pretty). So as part of the run, I'm fundraising for an organization that I really believe does good work. Big Sisters connects kids, mainly from low-income families, with mentors who support and encourage them while also giving their hard-working parents or caregivers a break.

If you are inclined to make a donation, it will be gratefully accepted. If not, that's cool too. Good luck in your pandemic marathon, because that's what it feel like sometimes*!!

*I don't know what a marathon feels like.

Description

Big Sisters knows that every connection counts.  With one in ten kids in the Lower Mainland not feeling they have a single adult who cares about them, our programs are vital in creating meaningful relationships for kids who need just one adult to believe in them to ignite their potential.  Your donation directly supports our three mentoring programs which support over 850 youth each year.  Everyday in a child's life is crucial, they shouldn't have to wait for the help they need to reach their full potential.
