53 Strong DeAthlon
The 53 Strong DeAthlon is a run-bike event. Your time is calculated by adding your run time and each of your segment times together. Your full bike ride will not be timed. The 53 Strong DeAthlon will begin at 7:00AM and then you will go directly onto the bike leg.
Run
The run is a traditional 5k race that will begin at 7:00AM.
Bike
For the bicycle ride, you can choose between three different routes:
Tiger Tail 20 Mile Ride
Carolina Cruise 34 Mile Ride
Legacy Length 53 Mile Ride
All three routes will start at 8:00am, will be clearly marked and will have sag support for all participants. The 20 mile Tiger Tail and the 34 Mile Carolina Cruise will have one rest stop location with water, electrolyte drink, and goodies. The 53 Mile Legacy Length will have two fully stocked rest stops.
Timing Segments
Tiger Tail 20 Mile Ride:
- Segment 1: Located on Rea Road, about 1 mile into the course. Segment is approximately 1 mile long.
Carolina Cruise 34 Mile Ride:
- Segment 1: Located on Rea Road, about 1 mile into the course, before turning onto Crane Rd. Segment is approximately 1 mile long.
- Segment 2: Located on Walkup Rd, about 18.3 miles into the course, just past the bridge over Waxhaw Creek. Segment is approximately 2.2 miles long.
Legacy Length 53 Mile Ride:
- Segment 1: Located on Rea Road, about 1 mile into the course. Segment is approximately 1 mile long.
- Segment 2: Located on McWhorter Rd, about 18.5 miles into the course, just after turning off of Potter Rd. Segment is approximately 1.4 miles long.
- Segment 3: Located on Walkup Rd, about 37.5 miles into the course, just past the bridge over Waxhaw Creek. Segment is approximately 2.2 miles long.
