My Story...
Shortly after my first born, Savannah, turned 5, she was diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of cancer. It was a short, vicious battle and we lost. I didn’t get to see her turn 6. It was a nightmare, and still is to be honest
Camp Ooch was definitely a staple during our hospital stays. The volunteers were amazing and always knew how to make her laugh and smile. I will always be grateful for this organization! Savannah was never strong enough to visit their offsite camp, but they always brought the camp spirit to her :)
Camp Ooch has also been amazing for Victoria! They have an amazing program for bereaved siblings. Victoria looks forward to seeing her camp friends, and they all just “get” each other. It’s helped her to heal (as much as she can) and definitely cope.
This organization is filled with such amazing souls!

A diagnosis of childhood cancer changes life in an instant.
For affected kids and families, it can suddenly feel like everything is about cancer. Camp Ooch offers a hopeful journey, where kids with cancer can just be kids, and families connect with a community of strength and support when they need it the most.
They are much more than a summer camp—they offer the social cure for childhood cancer. Their camp-inspired programs deliver fun, friendship, and community to 1,900 kids and 745 families year-round, all across Ontario. As a response to COVID-19, virtual camp and in-hospital programs continue to reach kids and families living in isolation, wherever they are.
