My Story...
Being a camp counsellor at Camp Ooch is always the best part of my year. This year, we've all missed the canoe trips, the costumes in the drama dream hut, the s'mores and playing sports in the barn — but we haven't missed out on the best part of camp: being together.
Throughout the year Ooch & Trillium have been running virtual programming for kids with cancer and their families. This programming — from virtual campfires to teaching them how to code — offers these kids an important community with their peers.
For the fifth year in a row I am running 10K in May to help support this important programming during the pandemic and so that we can continue to offer an amazing camp experience up north when it's safe to do so.

A diagnosis of childhood cancer changes life in an instant.
For affected kids and families, it can suddenly feel like everything is about cancer. Camp Ooch offers a hopeful journey, where kids with cancer can just be kids, and families connect with a community of strength and support when they need it the most.
They are much more than a summer camp—they offer the social cure for childhood cancer. Their camp-inspired programs deliver fun, friendship, and community to 1,900 kids and 745 families year-round, all across Ontario. As a response to COVID-19, virtual camp and in-hospital programs continue to reach kids and families living in isolation, wherever they are.
