My Story...
My dear family and friends,
Please help me support two amazing camps, that give kids with cancer a chance to be KIDS!! Donate today. Every little bit helps!!
Life with cancer is not fun and when you have to spend much of childhood in and out of the hospital, it can really put a damper on a child's mood and mentality. If you've ever been to camp you'll agree that it's one of the most amazing, fun, creative, silly, crazy, caring, exciting, places to be as a child. Meet new friends, reminisce with old friends, and create a lifetime of memories. Spirits are lifted, and cancer....forgotten. At Ooch and Trillium, the cancer word doesn't exist, only fun and the freedom to be carefree and experience all the things that childhood is meant to be.
At camp kids can be kids and they don't have to think about when their next round of chemo is or when they have to get radiation treatment or a blood transfusion. All they need to worry about is having FUN!!!
As a childhood cancer survivor, if Camp Ooch and Trillium were around when I was a sick kid, let me tell you, I would have some amazing memories to share!!
So, come to the campfire, pull up a Muskoka chair, grab a s'more and help me make some amazing memories for some amazing kids.
Description
A diagnosis of childhood cancer changes life in an instant.
For affected kids and families, it can suddenly feel like everything is about cancer. Camp Ooch offers a hopeful journey, where kids with cancer can just be kids, and families connect with a community of strength and support when they need it the most.
They are much more than a summer camp—they offer the social cure for childhood cancer. Their camp-inspired programs deliver fun, friendship, and community to 1,900 kids and 745 families year-round, all across Ontario. As a response to COVID-19, virtual camp and in-hospital programs continue to reach kids and families living in isolation, wherever they are.
Please consider making a donation to my fundraising efforts—your gift will make a world of difference!
Cancer changes a child’s life. So does camp. And so can you.
